Graduate Ambassador at Portland State University
Graduate Program: Master of Taxation, Masters
Program Delivery: Full Time
Anticipated Graduation Date: 2021
I transferred to Portland State University from Portland Community College to complete my undergraduate degree in accounting. The transition felt smooth and I really appreciated the resources and flexibly that PSU offers. I really admire the PSU School of Business. It is apparent they care about your success, something that is even more evident when in a graduate program. I heard about the Master of Taxation degree while pursuing my bachelor’s and by the time I completed my undergraduate degree it was clear to me that I wanted to go into tax, so the decision came naturally.
As with any degree, it is important to think about your goals and where you see yourself in the future. Does a certain degree help you get there? What do you want out of a graduate degree? Are you in a place in your life in which you can commit the time and money necessary to complete a graduate degree? Talk to people who are or have received the type of degree you are considering, what were their experiences, and how can you relate that information to your situation?
I started at Portland Community College and received my A.S. before transferring to Portland State University to complete my bachelor’s degree in Accounting. While earning my degree I had multiple jobs and internships including Lead Merchandiser, Tax Intern, Administrative Assistant, and Data Analyst Intern. My hobbies include making art, cooking, and going to concerts (pre-COVID).
I am going into public accounting, upon graduating from the Master of Taxation. I plan to become a CPA and work to continually expand my accounting knowledge. I have several hobbies and my goal is to balance a successful career, hobbies, and social life.
